The Canucks come out of the Four Nations break to face the Golden Knights in Las Vegas. The Canucks would win the opening draw and both teams would go back and forth until two and a half minutes in where Dorofeyev would get 2 goo chances but would miss the net and get denied. Play would continue with the Canucks would get good zone time from their fourth line. But they would be caught with too many men sending Vegas to the powerplay. Vegas starts the Powerplay with two chances that were denied the Canucks would clear the puck the rest of the way and kill it off. Vegas would keep it in the zone and a shot from the blueline would be stopped by Lankinen. The fourth line would get another decent shift, but Vegas would come back down and get another shot on goal. The play would go back and forth until the Canucks would get a good chance, but it would be stopped. Play would start to pick up with great chances for both teams and a bi hit by Kiefer Sherwood. The Canucks though would be called for too many men again giving Vegas their second powerplay. The Canucks would clear immediately on the powerplay, and Vegas would settle in and Hanafin and Eichel would get good chances that Lankinen would save, and the Canucks would get the clear the puck for the rest of the powerplay. Canucks would get a chance with Chytil missing the net on a partial 2 on 1. Later Boeser would set up O’Conner for a chance that wouldn’t see the net. Both teams would continue to trade chances and Lankinen would make two great saves back-to-back. Play would continue back and forth until Olofsson would get a good chance on a one tee that Lankinen would stop, Tyler Myers sends the puck over the glass giving Vegas their third powerplay. They would get a early chance that would be denied and after they cycle the puck would leave the zone and they would regroup. On a clear try Hanifin would hold and put it on goal and it would be tipped by Stone but stopped by Lankinen and then Hertl would get a chance too that would be stopped. The Canucks would clear a couple of times and kill the penalty and dump the puck on Hill the end the period. The Canucks did not have a great period, but Kevin Lankinen showed why he got that extension with an amazing period. If the Canucks show up on offence in the second, then they could take the lead with hoe Lankinen is playing.

The Second period would start with both teams going back and forth with small chances being traded with one of the chances being Dorofeyev almost banking on off Lankinen from behind the net. Conor Garlan would get a shot on Goal that would be stopped by Hill. Canucks would get another chance but then Vegas would come back up ice and have good zone time with a chance after the Canucks clear they would go back and forth until Petterssons line would come out and lock Vegas in their own zone and of a great hold by Soucy that would be picked up by Sherwood behind the net who would throw it in front to Debrusk who would put it behind Hill for his twentieth of the year to give the Canucks a 1-0 lead. Play would continue for about a minute until Pettersson would get tripped and the Canucks would go on the powerplay. The Canucks would start with a goo chance for Suter that would be stopped by Hill and Vegas would get it to center the Canucks would get it Back in and get a shot on goal but it would be stopped by Hill and Vegas would clear again they would kill the penalty and the play would go back and forth until Vegas would get a shot on goal that would come out on the rebound and Barbashev would bury it for his sixteenth of the year tying the game. Canucks would come back and get some zone time and a shot that would be stopped and covered by Hill. Play would continue with teams getting some chances but ultimately nothing would come of them. Late in the second Vegas would have a good passing play that would end in a miss and a clear from the Canucks. Pietrangelo would slap one on and it would miss but come in front, but no one would pick it up and the Canucks would ice the puck leaving tired players on. Vegas would pressure with the tired players and get some chances, but the Canucks would hold on and the period would end in a 1-1 tie. The Canucks played better but Vegas still out played them they need to come out hot and finish hot in the third because Kevin Lankinen is the only thing keeping them in the game right now.

The third period would start with Saad getting his of the year to give Vegas their first lead of the game 18 seconds into the third period. Canucks would continue to be slow out the gate with them struggling to get the puck out of the zone and Vegas would hold them in their own side of center Canucks would get a faceoff in the Vegas zone and Hoglander would work the corner and make a pass to the blueline and it would go D to D and a shot would pop out to Hoglander who would bank it in off a falling Blueger and in for a called goal that would be reversed for goalie interference. After the draw Vegas would have a good chance that would be stopped by Lankinen. The Chytil line would get good zone time and get a shot but Hill would save it to keep the game 2-1 Vegas. Play would continue with the Pettersson line getting good O-Zone time but Vegas would send Howden on a Breakaway that Lankinen would stop and the Canucks would come out and then Vegas would come back with a shot that would be swallowed by Lankinen. Canucks would come back with good chances back-to-back to-back but Adin Hill would make miraculous saves and keep the lead for Vegas. Play would continue with Vegas holding the Canucks in their zone and getting goo opportunities, but Lankinen would hold the puck out. Canucks would get out and get two good chances but Hill would hold and the other one would be intercepted. Canucks would continue with Pressure and Chytil would draw a tripping call and the Canucks would play for a bit with the delayed penalty but Vegas would touch and the Canucks would go to the powerplay. Boeser would try to make a cross ice pass that came out and the Canucks would come back with a chance that would be stopped but roll in after the whistle and the Canucks would celebrate but it was ultimately no goal. Canucks would cycle around and get two good chances the second coming after the powerplay with the net empty but Hill would hold it out. After a timeout for the Canucks. Off the draw Vegas would get it out and end up offside so they couldn’t get the empty netter. Canucks get it back down and pull the goalie again cycle and get some shots off. Vegas would get it out three times but on the fourth one they would put home the empty netter with Hertl getting his twenty-second of the year to ice the game at 3-1. Cauncks would get in the zone but it would be too late and they would fall to Vegas in their first game back. Not a great game for the Canucks with them not helping Lankinen and not getting much offence. Hopefully they bounce back tomorrow against Utah.
