Canucks vs Jets Game Review 30/03/2025

The Canucks face off against the Winnipeg Jets in another must win game but it would be a tough task as the Jets are the best team in the NHL right now but the Canucks have beaten them before recently. They are still without Pettersson and Hoglander and Chytil but have been playing well without them. The Game would start with Nino Neideriter missing the net on a rush as he fanned on the shot. Off a draw Scheiffle would spin on in front from the point and it would cause trouble. The Jets would put more pressure on and get some chances but Demko would stand tall. Lekkerimaki would make a good play sending one in front but it would get tipped on and then a shot from the point would cause trouble in front but the Jets would come back get a slashing call and they would keep it delayed for a bit trying to get the 6 on 5 advantage and they would get a good chance that Demko would stop and the Canucks would touch the puck. The powerplay would start withJets would get two good chances but Demko would make two good saves to keep it out. The Jets would get another chance but it would stay out. Off the draw Teddy Blueger would get called for high sticking and the Jets would go to 5 on 3 for just over a minute. The Canucks would clear off the draw and then the Jets would come back and set up and Schieffle would try to set up Ehlers and the Canucks would clear the Jets would come back and Schieffle would fan on a one timer and the Jets would set up and try for a chance after the first penalty would end and it would miss the net and the Canucks would get it out and after one more clear the powerplay would end and the Canucks would come out alive. Play would continue for a bit until the Canucks would get a good chance as Hronek would make a good pass to Suter and he would beat Hellebuyck but not the crossbar and the game would stay tied. Canucks would get a good steal but the pass would Boeser would miss him and roll to Hellebuyck who would cover. Canuck would get a shot from the point that would be steered wide. The Jets would pressure and a shot from the point would be stopped by Demko and he would cover. Demelo would get a shot from the point that Demko would snag with the glove. Demelo would get another shot from the point and it would give Demko trouble but he would keep it out and then a shot from Morrissey would get stopped by Demko. The Canucks would get the puck out and Sherwood would send one to Joshua who would just tip it wide but Sherwood would be high sticked and the Cancusk would go to the powerplay. The powerplay wouldn’t start well as they would just kill almost a whole minute before the Canucks would set up. Suter would try to send one in front but it wouldn’t get to anyone and the Jets would get it and clear. After one ,ore clear the powerplay would end and the Canucks would get picked off on a nice play Conner and the Jets would come back the Canucks would make it hard for them and after a couple of tries they would get in and Myers would set up Suter all alone and he would go backhand forehand and put it past Hellebuyck but it would be challenged for a offside entry. In my opinion it looks offside to me but it’s very close. they would end the review with a good goal call so it would be Suter’s of the year to take a 1-0 lead and the Canucks would go to the powerplay again. They would get in the zone and then lose it and the Jets would come down and waste time Samberg would get a shot that would miss the net and then after an unsuccessful entry the period would end in a 1-0 lead for the Canucks. Great period for Vancouver, an amazing kill and then a goal on top. I think they look good. It's just about keeping the pace. 

The second would start with the Canuck still on the powerplay and the Jets would get an early clear. The Canucks would come back but the Jets would get it out and on the next entry Boeser would be taken out and he would dislodge the net and the puck would come out on the draw. The Canuck would get the puck in and try to get chances but they would be shut down and the Jets would get it out. After some neutral zone play Sherwood would get a tush and his shot would miss the net. The Jets would come back with a shot on goal that would be stopped. The third line for the Canucks would have a good shift but get no chance. The Jets would come back and Demelo’s shot would be stopped by Demko. The Jets would keep the pressure and Morrissey;s shot would miss the net. The Canucks would come back and get some chances but Hellebuyck would keep them out. Play would go back and forth for a bit until Morrissey would put one in front and Lowry’s redirection would be stopped by Demko. A shot from the point would bounce up and Demko would track and cover as it fell. The Canucks would come back and O’Conner would get a chance but it would be deflected away. After a blocked shot the Canucks would come out and Suter would get a chance but his shot would be deflected and then Kyle Conner would come in and fire on past Demko for his of the year to tie the game at 1-1. The third line would have another good shift and they would get good zone time. The Jets would apply pressure but the CAnucsk would get a breakout and Boeser world try to set up a teammate in front but a poke check from Hellebuyck would shut it down. The Canucks would come back and Hughes would go to Lekkerimaki and his shot would get stopped by Hellebuyck. The Jets would come back after Garland made some good stick handles in the Jets zone and Conner’s shot would get stopped by Demko. Play would go back and forth for a bit until Appleton would steal and set up a point shot that would miss the net and almost go to Appleton in front and then the Canucks would come back with DeBrusk getting a shot. Hughes would come down and give it to Lekkerimaki but he would get shut down. Karlsson would come down a bit after and get a shot on goal that Hellebuyck would stop. Later the Canucks would come in and Joshue would make a good pass to Sherwood and his shot would get stopped. After Suter would clear the puck he would get interfered with and the Canucks would go to their third powerplay of the game. The powerplay would start with a shot from Boeser and would be blocked and a Jets clear. The Canucks would come back and the Jets would get a clear. The Canucks would set up and get a couple of chances but Hellebuyck would stand tall and the powerplay would end. The period would end there in a 1-1 tie. Not the best period for the Canucks. They got their chances but losing the lead is not great.

The third would start with the Jets putting pressure on and a shot from Stanlety would cause trouble and Demko would still make the save after getting fooled. Play would go back and forth for a bit until off a draw the Jets would come back with Iafallo throwing one in front and it would cause trouble with Demko and they would review it to see if the puck crossed the goal line. The review would end in a no goal call due to not enough evidence to overturn. The Jets would press after a Hughes turn over but the Canucks would shut it down. DeBrusk would skate up the ice and try to get a shot that would be blocked. The Canucks would come in and Blueger would try to set up Marcus Pettersson who wouldn’t get a shot off. The Jets would come back and get two chances from Ehlers and Samberg and Demko would stop them both. Play would continue for a bit until Ehlers would throw one in front and after one rebound Appleton would put in the second one for his tenth of the year to take a 2-1 lead. The Cancusk would come back and Blueger would set up Garland but his shot would be deflected out of play. Myers would get a long shot that would be stopped. Barron would get set up for a good chance but he’d put it wide. Later Miller would be highsticked by Sherwood and the Jets would go to the powerplay with a chance to extend the lead. The powerplay would start with the Jets setting up and Morrissey’s shot would miss the net. The Jets would stay set up and after Ehlers would put one in front the puck would be cleared. The Jets come back but the Canucks clear right away. The Jets would enter again and they would cause trouble in front and the Canucks would clear as the puck left the crease. The Ppowerplay would end and the Canucks owls come down on a 2 on 1 and Bluegers shot would be stopped and the puck would bounce past him. The Canucks would add more pressure but get no shots. And then Perfetti would make an amazing move on Forbort and put it top shelf past Demko to take a 3-1 lead. The Canucks would come back and get a chance that Hellebuyck would stop. Later the Canucks would pull the goalie and set up in the Jets zone and Garland would lose the puck and it would come out. The Canucks would set up again but the Jets would get it out again. The Canucks owuld come bakc and Sherwood would get a chance but it would be stopped and the Jets would ice the puck after a time out the Cancuks would try to pressure and Hughes would get a shot that Hellebuyck would stop it. The Jets would get a clear and the Cancuks would called for too many men and that would seal the game for the Jets as they would shut down the Canucks chanes and they woudl take the game 3-1 and the Canucks would take a big blow to thier playoff chances. Oh well the Jets are the best team in the league right now and we played a good game but couldn’t beat Hellebuyck.
