Now let’s get into this week in CanucksLand.
This week was a slower week in terms of games but with the trade deadline being on Friday it meant it would still be a big week no matter what. The Canucks started this week facing the Ducks at home in a rematch of their game last week which saw the Ducks take a 6-3 win in a game where the Canucks blew their third straight lead. The Canucks looked to turn it around in this game now Quinn Hughes is out of the lineup with an unrelated injury and it seems as the Canucks try harder without him as they would play a very good game but an unlucky tip would go by Lankinen and the Ducks would take a 1-0 into the second. The Canucks would blow this game open starting with Debrusk putting one past Gibson and the Canucks would tie the game. I can’t talk about that goal without mentioning Hronek’s beautiful pass to Boeser and he would do it again sending one to Blueger and he would shoot it off Lacombe’s leg and past Gibson to take the lead. Soucy would blast one past Dostal who came into the game after Gibson got hurt and the Canucks would head into the third with a 3-1 lead. The Ducks would get one more and the Canucks would get two needed division points.
The next game was against the Wild who were very hurt. Still no Quinn Hughes but that would be no problem as the Canucks would open the scoring with an absolute blast on the powerplay. They would continue to play very well and it would take a beautiful powerplay goal from the Wild to beat Lankinen. The Canucks would come back with Hronek making another great pass to Sherwood who buried it to take a 2-1 lead. They would get an empty netter and take a 3-1 win over the wild.
A great week for Vancouver with two great games for the team and for Pettersson he was so good on the faceoff and he got an amazing goal in the game against the Wild. The Canucks hopefully would get Quinn Hughes back and they can push for a wildcard spot and make the playoffs so they can not waste this season.
Now I say that because the Canucks did nothing at the Deadline. They traded Soucy for a 3rd round pick and that’s it. Now they were listening to offers on Brock Boeser and apparently the price wasn’t good. If Beauvillier can get a 2nd round pick, how low was Boeser’s price? It had to be higher than that, no disrespect to Beauillier but Boeser would be worth a 1st and a 3rd at minimum. The reason I say that is that he isn’t having the same year as last year but who is he playing with that’s not having a bad year. But I like that we kept him because I think we should resign him because we need guys who have been here for awhile and Boeser has been in Vancouver the longest. The Canucks have made the thing i think was perfect by not making that deal as i think they shouldn’t get rid of assets and not sell too hard they freed up cap space and got an extra pick and didn’t lose a star and still have a first round pick. Hopefully they have a good off season and push for a better year next year.
That has been this week in CanucksLand thank you for reading and i’ll see you guys next week where the Canucks play the Stars, Habs, Flames, and Blackhawks.
