Now Let’s get into This Week in CanucksLand,

The Canucks started the week facing off against the Utah Hockey Club in a game that they needed to win, especially since Utah is a team chasing that final playoff spot. The Canucks would start off hot with a goal from Quinn Hughes two and a half minutes in. The hot start would be all the Canucks as the Utah Hockey Club would get three straight from Stenlund, Cooley, and Keller to take the game 3-1 not what the Canucks wanted and they failed to steal 2 points from a team that’s chasing them.

The Next game was against the Winnipeg Jets, a team that isn’t chasing them but it’s a team that if the Canucks would win then they would get two points that other teams might not be able to. They started off hot with three goals in the first period with O’Conner, Boeser, and Hoglander getting them. The Jets did get one in between them from Ehlers and one after from Iafallo but the Canucks would get 3 three more with Boeser getting his second and Suter getting the next two. It was a great game for Vancouver and was a bright spot in an otherwise no to bright week as they would dismantle the Jets and look to get more as the week went on.

The Third game was against the St.Louis Blues, another team that at this time would be tied with the Canucks in the standings and look to pass them. The Blues would start with a goal from Bulduc but the Canucks would get two back from Sherwood and Boeser to take the lead the Blues would do the same with goals from Tucker and Holloway. They would hold that lead into the third until with four seconds left the Boeser would tie the game securing a point as the Blues would go on to win in overtime thanks to Broberg. Not the result we wanted from the game, especially because the Canucks got off to a bad start had they started better. We could've got the two point but its not the way the cookie crumbled and the Canucks lost 4-3 in overtime.

The last game of the week was against the New York Rangers. The Canucks would change the hot start problem from the Blues game with a goal in the first from Joshua. The Rangers would get the next two from Fox and Brodzinski. The Canucks would tie the game with a goal from O’Conner but the Rangers would get on back right away with K’Andre Miller getting it. The Canusks would tie the game again with Boeser getting it but yet again 37 seconds later Brodzinski would get one to retake the lead. J.T Miller would get the empty netter and even when out shooting them 39-12 the Canucks would lose the game 5-3 in embarrassing fashion.

A horrible week for the Canucks only getting 3 out of 8 points and they are now three points back of a playoff spot and are third in the race after leading going into the week. They might be without Pettersson and Hoglander for some games as they both left in the Rangers game. If those injuries are not big then it could be okay but if they are big then it would be it for the season. They need to play better like we’ve seen them do.

The three stars of the week are

1. Brock Boeser G 5 A 1 P 6 SOG 8 H 5

2. Quinn Hughes G 1 A 4 P 5 SOG 15 H 0

3. Elias Pettersson G 0 A 4 P 4 SOG 2 H 11
